Entry: Accepting entries up to a maximum of fifty (50) pages including prologue (if any). Your entry may include an optional non-judged two-page synopsis. The Industry Insider Screenwriting Contest

Think you can turn this logline from Randall Wallace, Oscar-Nominated Screenwriter for Braveheart, and Writer/Director of The Man in the Iron Mask and We Were Soldiers into a killer script?

A soldier returns from an 18-month deployment and finds that the family home is missing – even the address no longer exists.

Working from this A-list logline, you’re challenged to create up to the first 15 pages of an original script based on the given concept. Make it your own – drama, action, sci-fi… anywhere your imagination takes you.

But it doesn’t stop there. The Industry Insider Screenwriting Contest goes much further than your average competition, by providing the top 10 finalists with mentors to guide them through the entire script creation process, with the goal of completing a spec screenplay to be judged by a panel of Hollywood power players.

  • Entrants write up to the first 15 pages of a script based on the logline above, provided by Randall Wallace

In this workshop I will guide you through various on-line interactions that can help increase your Discoverability. We will discuss your banding and marketing plans, making sure you have all the key elements in place. This workshop is heavy in content and theory, however there will many exercises to help you increase your brand’s discoverability.

Plot, character arc, transitions, climax, revise, rewrite, make that deadline, blog, check social media sites, continued education, volunteer for local writing group, read critique partners manuscript, research agents/publishers, read books within your genre, read a craft book and network.  These are ALL things that go through writers’ minds on any give day. It is public record the medical professional did exactly that at the beginning of the AIDS pandemic. In the early 1980’s, 114 neonates, and an unknown number of adults, were given HIV infected transfusions at a major LA hospital. DIRECTOR SEEKS SCRIPTS FOR ENGLAND-BASED TELEVISION DRAMA
I’m currently looking for television scripts for television drama, in a similar vein as “The Shadow Line” and “Luther”. We’ll discuss ways to find and state your original idea so that you stay on course while writing the book. The original idea will you excite those you tell it to when trying to sell it. Conflict drives your story. Not only must conflict escalate throughout the entire novel, every single scene must have conflict in it. The Conflict Box is an effective technique for focusing your story on the protagonist, antagonist, their goals and finding out if you have the necessary conflict lock. These two key concepts can help you focus your writing and narrow your pitch. Course taught by Bob Mayer.
