Saturday, 28th November 2013 is a day most will never forget.

Images of a wrecked Porsche that took actor, Paul Walker’s, life spread around the world like a virus, dominating news channels, the internet, and especially social media. Family, friends, co-stars, and fans joined together to cry, grieve, and attempt to understand how something so devastatingly horrific like this could happen to such a decent guy.

But beneath all the mourning, it leaves one unanswered question. What will happen to the Fast and Furious franchise?

FAST 6, which was released earlier this year, earned a reportedly $800 million worldwide, and FAST 7, already 3 months into production, was tipped to top that, leaving Universal with one hell of a decision to make. How do we continue?

The Crow

Or, do they continue? How does a movie survive when they lose one of their main stars halfway through filming?

When The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus lost actor, Heath Ledger, one third of the way through filming, production was temporarily suspended and Ledger’s role was eventually recast using three actors: Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell.

After the accidental death of Brandon Lee, co-star, Sofia Shinas no longer wanted to film The Crow and went back to Los Angeles, leaving Paramount to pull out from having any involvement altogether. It was only after Miramax stepped in and invested a healthy $8 million that the film was completed with the help of CGI, flashbacks, and a stunt double.

Hmm, now there’s an idea. After all, CGI is better than it has ever been, and Paul Walker’s brother did stand in for him while making the movie Running Scared. Could he do it again and finish filming the 7th FAST instalment?

Of course, the studio could just kill Walker’s character off altogether. But this whole franchise is about street racing, fast cars, and lot’s of crashes. Maybe not the moral path to take considering the way in which Walker’s life prematurely ended in reality.

Then there is the good old rewrite, which the script will undoubtedly go through. But to what extent? Will Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, be written out completely? Or will a mash-up of footage be re-edited to finish those all important scenes?

One thing is for sure. No matter how shell-shocked and saddened studio executives and director, James Wan are at the news of Walker’s death, the FAST franchise is one of the studios biggest earners. FAST 7 will be made, distributed, and inevitably become one of the biggest grossing films of all time – it’s just a case of how and when.

What an amazing weekend I had. On Saturday, Audley End House hosted the Greatest Eighties Concert Ever! And it didn’t disappoint.

What I found funny was the age of the spectators. I mean, they were OLD! Then I realised. So was I. No longer was I that young teenager with her back-combed hair, Madonna style clothes, and white stiletto shoes. Instead, it dawned on me… Heck, I’m middle-aged.

When did that happen? I haven’t turned grey… or not that my hair dye won’t cover-up. I don’t have many wrinkles that L’Oreal eye cream can’t cope with. My bum hasn’t sagged that much… has it?

So, I thought it would be fun to do a ‘Then and Now’ blog.

Right, I’ll be brave and start with me.

Me, back in the 80’s                        … and, me now

Notice the hair and the shoulder pads? The only good thing about the first picture is that the car is KITT from Knight Rider.

So, back to Saturday night.

Recognise this singer? This is Nik Kershaw way back in the eighties.

Here he is some twenty years later playing one of his most famous songs.

How about this man?

The gorgeous Rick Astley. Remember that wiggle dance. Oh boy, did I love this guy back then. Actually, I still love him now. Here’s why…

Here are some more…

Anthony Michael Hall, that guy from the Breakfast Club and Weird Science.

Teen heartthrob, Emilio Estevez, from St. Elmo’s Fire.

How about Star Wars hero, Mark Hamill.

We all remember the beautiful Kelly McGillis.

What about the people we love now?

Take the sexy Mark Harmon from NCIS fame.

And ever wondered if the hunky Paul Walker was really always that cute?

Ahh, wasn’t he just adorable!

So, which childhood crush or hero do you think has changed the most with age?… For the better, and (cough cough) for the worse. Shannon Doherty is doing okay, and so is Demi Moore for that matter. Who do you think hasn’t aged at all?

It’s been a while since I wrote a totally random post, but today seemed as good a day than ever – so here goes.

Yesterday, a friend on Facebook (Donna Beckley Galanti for those who want to check out her page), posted a status asking what our addiction for the day was. Naturally, as my mind is always on men (purely for character research you understand), I commented ‘Paul Walker’.

This then had me thinking. Yes, I do think. Why does a certain type of man stand out to me? What is it about these particular individuals that hold my interest?

So, without further ado, and with the help of Paul Walker, Jensen Ackles, Daniel Craig, Jason Statham, and Timmy Olyphant, here’s my Top Ten of what makes my perfect man.

1. BODY

Oh come on. Did you really think I was going to say ‘personality’? This body is awesome! I’d be the biggest liar on the planet if I put this anywhere other than first on my list.

2. HEIGHT

Timmy Olyphant is well over 6 feet. I think he is something yummy like 6.4. I have shoe heels taller than this so I need a man with height to hold on too.

3. EYES

Blue, brown, green, or Hazel. They must have that ‘sparkle’. Eyes are the window to your soul and what draw me in. I want to get lost in dreamy eyes.

4. HAIR

Ask my hubby…I absolutely hate long hair on a man. The back of a mans neck is a sexy thing…. hair should be cut every week, well-shaped, and defined. Long or messy haircuts are a big turn-off!

 5. ROUGH AND READY

I don’t mean I need him to be a biker hooligan. But, a man needs to be able to take care of himself….. and me! A strong, gun totting, fast thinking, martial artist  hunk isn’t too much to ask for – is it?

6. LITTLE BOY LOST

Strong and fearless is good, but a man still needs to show he is human.

7. EXCITING

Isn’t excitement and mystery the secret of really keeps a girl interested? The exhilaration of stepping outside our comfort bubble and trying something completely different is an adrenaline buzz. No? Oh well, it’s just me then.

8. PROTECTIVE SOFTER SIDE

Oh My God! This scene makes me melt. Enough said.

9. SENSE OF HUMOUR

Boy, do I like to laugh. A lot. I’ve been told I have a laugh like Harriet Potter from Carry On Camping. My hubby even has it as my caller ring tone on his phone. If a guy doesn’t have a sense of humour (and he needs one with my laugh), then I don’t care how many abs he has. He’s gone.

10. PERSONALITY

This is a null and void question. If the man has all of the above then he will have a personality I will love. So, lets talk cars and money instead 🙂

Just what we all want to see when being picked up by our date. Come on, it is a fantasy after all. 🙂

I’d like to thank Donna Beckley Galanti for pulling me away from my novel deadline so I could spend the morning lusting over these men.

Now, I want you lot out there to let me know what you think makes the perfect man. If you can’t sum it up, them let me know what TV character does it for you. Men, you can have a go – but let me know what attributes make the perfect woman. 🙂
