It’s been a while since I wrote a totally random post, but today seemed as good a day than ever – so here goes.
Yesterday, a friend on Facebook (Donna Beckley Galanti for those who want to check out her page), posted a status asking what our addiction for the day was. Naturally, as my mind is always on men (purely for character research you understand), I commented ‘Paul Walker’.
This then had me thinking. Yes, I do think. Why does a certain type of man stand out to me? What is it about these particular individuals that hold my interest?
So, without further ado, and with the help of Paul Walker, Jensen Ackles, Daniel Craig, Jason Statham, and Timmy Olyphant, here’s my Top Ten of what makes my perfect man.
1. BODY
Oh come on. Did you really think I was going to say ‘personality’? This body is awesome! I’d be the biggest liar on the planet if I put this anywhere other than first on my list.
2. HEIGHT
Timmy Olyphant is well over 6 feet. I think he is something yummy like 6.4. I have shoe heels taller than this so I need a man with height to hold on too.
3. EYES
Blue, brown, green, or Hazel. They must have that ‘sparkle’. Eyes are the window to your soul and what draw me in. I want to get lost in dreamy eyes.
4. HAIR
Ask my hubby…I absolutely hate long hair on a man. The back of a mans neck is a sexy thing…. hair should be cut every week, well-shaped, and defined. Long or messy haircuts are a big turn-off!
5. ROUGH AND READY
I don’t mean I need him to be a biker hooligan. But, a man needs to be able to take care of himself….. and me! A strong, gun totting, fast thinking, martial artist hunk isn’t too much to ask for – is it?
6. LITTLE BOY LOST
Strong and fearless is good, but a man still needs to show he is human.
7. EXCITING
Isn’t excitement and mystery the secret of really keeps a girl interested? The exhilaration of stepping outside our comfort bubble and trying something completely different is an adrenaline buzz. No? Oh well, it’s just me then.
8. PROTECTIVE SOFTER SIDE
Oh My God! This scene makes me melt. Enough said.
9. SENSE OF HUMOUR
Boy, do I like to laugh. A lot. I’ve been told I have a laugh like Harriet Potter from Carry On Camping. My hubby even has it as my caller ring tone on his phone. If a guy doesn’t have a sense of humour (and he needs one with my laugh), then I don’t care how many abs he has. He’s gone.
10. PERSONALITY
This is a null and void question. If the man has all of the above then he will have a personality I will love. So, lets talk cars and money instead 🙂
Just what we all want to see when being picked up by our date. Come on, it is a fantasy after all. 🙂
I’d like to thank Donna Beckley Galanti for pulling me away from my novel deadline so I could spend the morning lusting over these men.
Now, I want you lot out there to let me know what you think makes the perfect man. If you can’t sum it up, them let me know what TV character does it for you. Men, you can have a go – but let me know what attributes make the perfect woman. 🙂
Donna, thanks for the mention. And you are KILLING me here…eyes, lost boy, on and on.
Oh, but you had to go and mention my Daniel Craig (yes, I did say MY). Swoon from Casino Royale. I literally was so obsessed with him when that movie came out I rented in daily OnDemand and watched it hourly for days. I was thrown back to my teen days! My husband couldnt understand me and when he saw the cable bill he finally went and bought the movie. Ahh….must go get my dose tonight! HE is my addiction. But this Paul Walker is so dreamy. I will check him out. Thanks for the dreaminess! I am not a long hair person myself – give me short and chopped. Daniel….sighhhh….blue shorts…sighhh…coming out of the water…tuxedo dream…ahhh

I like to live in my dream bubble and think that, as I looked like Rachel Weiz (well, we have the same colour hair), Daniel would have married me if only he’d seen me first. 😀

Oh you DO look like Rachel Weiz a bit 🙂 She is a doll. But so are you! I had to come back and see the pics again. sorry i ruined your deadline!

I loved that shower scene in Casino Royale with Daniel Craig. When I write sensitive mushy scenes I try to visualize him to translate “manly” tenderness and strength. Thanks for starting my morning off with a bang–lovely shots!

Tricia, I adore that scene too! So tender. I love Craig as Bond, he really made him a 3-D person with human qualities. Must get my fix in this weekend!

When I heard Daniel Craig was to be the new James Bond, I was horrified. I was a massive Pierce Brosnan fan (from the days of Remington Steele). So I went to the cinema to see Casino Royale under protest. Within fifteen minutes, I was in love 🙂

Love Paul Walker’s dreamy dreamy eyes. I also like the title rough and ready. Makes him sound ready for…..um…something other than a bar fight.

Lol. Oh yes. Now you’ve painted a whole new picture for me. I think this should be the title for your next novel 🙂

I second Tricia Quinnies spot-on comment about the shower scene in Casino Royale. . .even I’ve read it should hold nothing for me (you understand) these days — Really? Whoever said you dry up after sixty is a little misinformed. Very nice post Donna Newton!

Number 9 is important…. but you have to agree the other attributes are an absolute necessity. I didn’t even get to #11 Romantic. Then again, if he looked like Paul Walker, would I even care? 🙂

Well Paul Walker does have a great set of eyes. And Timothy Olyphant has always been a personal fav of mine. Love a sense of humor. That should go without saying. But what is getting a hair cut everyday about? Are you insane? I guess if you were married to a hairstylist that would be one thing. But really Donna, who can afford that? In your dreams girlfriend is right! LOL! 🙂

LOL the hair cut is every week. He’d be as bald as a coot if he had it cut every day.

LOL Donna, I’m losing my mind! I re-read the post. I’ll blame it on a fever! But really Donna, even once a week is high maintenance girlfriend! 🙂 You crack me up!

I noticed Jensen made TWO pictures in the post. 🙂 What a fun post. I love them all, mostly. Personality plays a big part for me. The whole package is nice.

How about Jensen wrapped in a big red bow….. would you consider his personality before or after? 😀

Hi Donna!
I always did like Walker’s eyes and body and that cute face of his! And Timothy – Oh! There’s definitely something about him! 🙂 I recommend looking at the action film (that’s about all it has) “Hitman,” which is based on the game by the same name. You see a man who is a killer; but when he goes soft for those few times in the movie, my heart did skip a beat. Here’s a link to the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uh2fYGssoFI
Hope you have a great weekend!

I love ‘Hitman’! Have watched it, er, *cough cough* many times – and lets leave it at that. Favorite scene is in the train. I love a good fight, lol.

I have watched it several times as well! There are a few good scenes. The thing I love the most is his major masculinity combined with his softness that continually peeks through throughout the film.
